John Richards practices primarily in estate planning, document preparation, estate and trust administration and tax preparation with regard to estate and trust administration. He also works in the small business area to establish and advise with development and legal aspects of such businesses.
John has been in the legal profession for 56 years with 31 of those years as trust officer and senior vice president of a large trust operation in which he administered estates and trust accounts and was in charge of the bank’s 7 trust offices of the Western Region of Virginia. Counting a brief stint with a law firm before joining the trust department, he has spent 25 years representing clients.
During his business career he has been on many civic and business boards of directors, including Centra Foundation, Lynchburg City School Foundation, the Greater Community Trust, Downtown Lynchburg, Keep Lynchburg Beautiful Commission, Lynchburg Coca Cola Company, Strother Drug Company and chairman of the estate planning committee of Bridgewater College, to name a few.
